Slitting machines and slitting blades

Slitting machine is a big family of machinery. If we talk about slitters basing on the materials which it can slit, there is steel tape slitting machine (or someone say steel tape shearing machine), aluminum foil slitting machine (actually this machine can slit many soft and thin material such as PET, kraft paper, non-woven fabric, mica tape and etc), adhesive tape slitting machine like BOPP carton sealing tape slitter, masking tapes slitting machine, medical tape log slitting machine...

If we divide the slitter type according to the slitting mode, there are winding slitting machines and log slitting machines. Winding slitting machine unwinds the jumbo roll tape, slits it to strips and rewinds to pancake pads. Log slitting machine does not unwind the tape roll, but cut the tape in roll directly.

How ever, that what material can a slitting machine slit properly is not only depending on its machinery structure,but also depending on the blade what the slitting machine is equipped. Generally razor blades are mostly used to slit thin materials like PET, aluminum mylar foil, BOPP and etc. While rotary blades (round blades) are mostly used to slit thick materials like paper tape, metal tape and stretchable materials like PE and PVC films. Even rotary blades can be divided as disk shape blades and roller shape blades. Roller shape blades are mostly used to slit thick and hard metal materials like carbon steel sheet, stainless steel tape and etc. Once we fix the blades shape, we also need to consider the blades material (alloy metal) to make sure it slit the tape or film properly and long life.

Therefore, when we plan to invest to make a slitting machine for production, we need to select the correct machine construction shape and proper blades, so that we can make better and easier work once the machine is delivered into production.
